The Vision for Freelancers Medical

Sara Horowitz

Sara Horowitz
Founder & Executive Director, Freelancers Union

Sara founded Freelancers Union nearly two decades ago to help the new freelance workforce build sustainable solutions for itself, by itself.

It's why the MacArthur Foundation called her a "Genius" and the World Economic Forum called her a "Global Leader to Watch." It's why she started the social-purpose Freelancers Insurance Company (FIC), which now insures about 25,000 New Yorkers. It's why the federal government loaned $340 million to Freelancers Union-sponsored CO-OPs to bring nonprofit, member-driven health care to New York, New Jersey, and Oregon.
